Covid-19 Impact on the AWAM Scholarship Program
AWAM is happy to announce we will be continuing our scholarship program this year despite the Covid-19 pandemic. This public health emergency, however, has had an impact on both the 2020 and the upcoming 2021 scholarship seasons.
Our 2021 scholarship program will offer fewer scholarships due to some of our long-standing sponsors having to make the difficult choice to not offer scholarships this year. This is due to them having to focus all available resources on the internal aspects of their respective organizations. Most have indicated they intend to offer scholarships again in the future. We are thankful for the relationship we have with all of our sponsors and will continue to be flexible in working closely with them as we make our way through these difficult times.
We ask 2020 and 2021 scholarship recipients to keep in mind you may not be able to redeem scholarships for in-person training opportunities right away. Please be patient in working with the scholarship sponsor to determine when the training can take place. These are trying times with regard to restrictions on travel, group assembly, and health risk assessment. Scholarship sponsors may not be currently able to offer training sessions due to State and/or City restrictions, or internal company policies. Scholarship sponsors are doing everything they can to ensure they are able to honor their commitment to you. We ask you please work directly with them in good faith to arrive at an equitable solution.
We’d like to thank our membership, our scholarship sponsors, and our industry partners for your continued support, and look forward to the day when we can see you all in-person again!
