Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance Honors  Richard Wellman

The Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance (AWAM) Board of Directors recently established a new award titled the “Richard C. Wellman Award.”  It will be presented to a deserving individual who consistently and conscientiously champions the cause of women in the field of aviation technology.

The first Richard C. Wellman Award was given at the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA) awards luncheon, Tuesday, March 26, 2002 in Indianapolis, IN.  Richard C. Wellman, Director of Pratt and Whitney Customer Training Center and Chairman of PAMA was the first recipient.  He has been a key advocate for AWAM since the organization’s inception.

“Dick has been a guardian angel to AWAM through its first formative years.  His encouragement and guidance during our development has been an inspiration,” stated Robin Lamar, President of AWAM.

AWAM's mission is to provide support and to champion women’s professional growth in aviation maintenance.  This is accomplished through education, scholarships, networking and publications.  For more information call 386-424-5780.
