AWAM MEMBERS
RECEIVE SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS
Eight Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance
members were presented scholarships at the annual meeting in March.
Seven Pratt and Whitney training
scholarships and one Borescope scholarship from Aviation Learning were given to
the following AWAM members. Pratt
and Whitney winners were: Laina
Reeves (WA), Elsie Lam (CA), Maria Clinton (CA), Denise Waters (NY), Therese
Stone (CA), Lana West (AK), and Donald Hauenstein (CA). Katie Heuermann (CO) received the Borescope scholarship.
Besides the training awarded to
these scholarship recipients, their transportation and hotel accommodations are
provided by AWAM corporate sponsors, United Airlines and Northrop Rice USA.
This makes a complete package for the winners.
Linda Sollars, Scholarship
Chairman and AWAM Director said that “these scholarships are a win win
situation for the companies and the recipients. The winners receive valuable training and financial support
to reach career goals and the companies benefit from promotional exposure and
community recognition. Plus
supporting women in the aviation maintenance industry”.
AWAM scholarship program is
expanding. In 2001 additional
scholarships from Airlog Images,
Honeywell and individual, Paul Girard will be offered to AWAM members.
These scholarships will be posted on AWAM web site when available.
AWAM is a four year old
organization whose mission is to provide support and to champion women’s
professional growth in aviation maintenance/technology.
This is accomplished through education, scholarships, networking and
informational publications. For
