PAMA Convention ReportMay 9-11, 2000 Tampa, FL - Professional Aviation Maintenance Association had yet another great event! Imagine a giant convention hall with over 400 booths all devoted to some segment of aviation maintenance. Schools, General Aviation, Corporation Aviation, Airlines, Manufacturers, vendors, fuelers...you name it. Then there are all the seminars on every imaginable aviation maintenance subject as well as some on professional growth. There was something for everyone. Retired AWAM board member Julia Smith was one of the presenters this year, as well as current AWAM President Marcia Buckingham. Julia spoke about the Internet and Marcia's subject was electrical installation and repair. An elegantly framed copy of our own "She Strives" water color was donated to the Silent Auction by Pratt & Whitney, and reportedly hauled in $480.00 for the PAMA foundation scholarship fund. The annual Chili Cook Off was a fun event with food, drink, live music and a great dance floor for those who wished to "cut a rug." The AWAM booth was a busy place, as usual with visits from many new and long time members. We had great volunteers to help out this year. Next year this Convention will be in Long Beach, CA. Watch for the dates to be posted on our calendar of events and put this one in your date book. For more information go to www.pama.org.
