Marcia BuckinghamMarcia Buckingham is Treasurer and co-founder of the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance. As a licensed A&P, IA, Marcia is a 14 year veteran of the Space Shuttle Program, first as a mechanical and electrical technician and later as a lead quality control inspector. She was the first female Spacecraft Operator (SCO) at Kennedy Space Center. SCOs or "grounded astronauts" perform systems tests and checkout from the cockpit of the Orbiter between launches. She is also a certificated airline transport pilot and a flight instructor in fixed and rotor wing. She is presently pursuing a degree in electrical engineering technology.
