Words from Donna Dascoli – AWAM’s 2016 Pratt & Whitney Training Scholarship Recipient.
“I just wanted to say the biggest thank-you to AWAM, Pratt and Whitney, and Flight Safety International, for giving me the opportunity to sit one of your courses through the scholarship program.
I attended Flight Safety International for one week in Wichita Kansas last month, to be a part of the PT6A small engine course. I had such an amazing time whilst there, and being lucky enough to get an instructor that had extensive experience in the subject at hand, meant that we learnt some invaluable things which can’t necessarily be taught from a book. The training was second to none, and I am so grateful that I was chosen to experience it.
I am now back at work, putting my newly learnt knowledge to practice maintaining Cessna Caravans, amongst other aircraft in Australia. The PT6 course was the last theoretical step I needed to complete, to be eligible to obtain the PT6 type rating on my engineering licence here in Australia, so thank-you so much for making that possible. In the not to distant future, once I have logged enough practical experience, I will be applying for the rating, and I owe it all to you!
Thanks again, I could not be more appreciative of the generosity of both of your organisations, and I am honoured to have been chosen. It was truly a memorable experience.
