First Woman
Receives Charles Taylor Award
Patricia Hange is the first fully qualified female to
receive the Charles Taylor award.
She was presented this special award on September 28, 2000, in Tampa, FL by the local FAA
office. Hange was nominated by the
Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance (AWAM).
AWAM President, Marcia
Buckingham, was present at the ceremony honoring Hange.
As a member of AWAM and a Charles Taylor recipient, Hange has now been
nominated to Women in Aviation pioneer Hall of Fame.
The Charles Taylor award is
named after the man who made the powerplant for the Wright Flyer.
To be eligible for this award, one must have had fifty active years as an
aviation maintenance technician.
Buckingham said, “It is gratifying to know women like Patricia Hange and realize the contribution she has made to aviation history especially in the maintenance area”.
