º Oct. 11, 2001- AVIATION MAINTENANCE CAREER COMMISSION (AMCC) Meeting, Greensboro, SC - AWAM Secretary Alice Rice attended.

Those attending re-evaluated mission and goals because of Sept. 11 tragedy. AMCC will continue to pursue education goals and the Charles Taylor memorial. 

Funding for the organization was a major topic and a serious concern.   Volunteer executive Director will develop brochure with corporate benefits to go to corporations:  also a flyer on the memorial: set up office with separate phone line, etc.  She will research Web host and get site set up ASAP.  

º   º   OCT. 6 & 7, 2001 - ATEC BOARD MEETING, Denver. The Board covered the usual ATEC business:  2002 conference, web site, 147 & 65 update, educational materials to schools, nominating committee report, vision paper discussion. 

AWAM Secretary Alice Rice attended. She reported on Skills USA and NBAA booth and the value of ATEC directory.  They were very interested in our scholarships and asked questions regarding them. They plan to develop a brochure on ATEC schools that will be useful for organizations such as ours. 

º   September 24-27, 2001 - The Great Smokey Mountain Corporate Operators Symposium - Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort, Ashville, TN - Golf tournament, Cookout, Scenic tour, Biltmore Tour. AWAM VP Marcia Buckingham  gave three sessions.

º   July 12, 2001 -  First Meeting of the AMT Awards Steering Committee - PAMA HQ, Washington D.C., An AWAM representative has been invited to be a member of the committee.

By invitation from the Secretary of State Elaine Chao, AWAM board member and Secretary, Alice Rice was our representative at the Summit. The Summit was be a forum for business and union leaders, leading academics, and top government executives to discuss the President's goal of providing every worker with the skills required to be successful and fulfilled in their work.

2. Meeting - Wednesday May 2, 2:00-3:30 - Hyatt Hotel, Shoreline room.

3. A Gallery of Working Women was prominently displayed in the entrance hall to the convention.

º   April 8-14, 2001, Sun 'n Fun EAA Fly-In, Lakeland, FL, AWAM Vice President Marcia Buckingham was at the Basic Electrical Workshop tent, volunteers are welcome each year at any of the workshops.
