99’s Conference Features Association for Women In Aviation Maintenance 

Special interest seminars were a highlight at the 99’s annual conference in San Diego.  Robin Lamar, Vice President for the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance (AWAM), spoke on aviation maintenance as a career for women. 

The talk was well attended by women with a passion for aviation and the desire to become more involved.  Lamar said the attendees were responsive to her as a “mechanic” and not just a “pilot to be”. One participant exclaimed…”That’s it!  I’m going to get my airframe and powerplant license”. 

The 99’s conference was another opportunity for AWAM to further their goal of educating women regarding a career  as an aviation maintenance technician.  With the support of such organizations as the 99’s, AWAM can reach many women already interested in aviation.
